The Buffalo River claims a special place in the heart of artist Wendel Norton. After earning a degree from Hendrix College, Wendel continued his studies with Olive Chaffee in Saint Louis. But the Ozarks, where Wendel's roots run 5 generations deep, exerted a powerful attraction. In the early 70's he established Hideout Mountain Studio, near Snowball, Arkansas. He has made his home there ever since, except for several periods of additional study, in Dallas and New York. Wendel exhibits in New York, Dallas,as well a regionally.

Wendel's love of the landscapes and vistas of the Buffalo shine through in the Buffalo River Collection. His interpretations of the interplay between bluffs, trees, water, and light, delight the eye and speak to the soul.
